This document combines the requirements of the GNU General Public License (GPL v2) — required for publishing the free version of ShopWriter on WordPress.org — with the commercial API usage terms applied to ShopWriter’s free and paid API keys.
All plugin code distributed via WordPress.org repositories
is licensed under GPL v2 or later. API usage is commercially licensed.

2. SHOPWRITER COMMERCIAL LICENSE TERMS (APPLICABLE TO API USAGE)
There is no separate Pro plugin version. All plugin code is GPL, but certain features require a free or paid API key available via shop-writer.com/.
The plugin remains free and GPL. The API service is commercially licensed.
2.1 API License Grant
By obtaining a paid API key, you receive a non-transferable license to access and use the ShopWriter API within the limits of your subscription.
This API license is separate from the GPL license of the plugin.
2.2 API Usage Restrictions
The following restrictions apply only to API usage: – You may not share, sell, transfer, or publish your API key. – You may not misuse the API (including mass scraping, automated spam, or abusive automation). – You may not attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or security mechanisms. – You may not resell the API or its output as a standalone service without written permission.
These restrictions do not apply to the GPL plugin code.
2.3 Ownership
All rights to the API, platform logic, AI output services, and infrastructure remain the exclusive property of ShopWriter.
2.4 Updates & Access
- Plugin updates are distributed under GPL.
Certain API-powered features require a valid API key. - API access is only available with a valid free or paid key.
- Paid API features are only accessible while the subscription is active.
2.5 Termination of API Access
ShopWriter may suspend or terminate API access if: – the API terms are violated, – abuse or security risks are detected, – a subscription expires or is cancelled.
This does not affect your right to continue using the GPL plugin.
2.6 API Liability Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law: – ShopWriter shall not be liable for any damages arising from API usage, including incorrect AI output, downtime, data loss, business interruption, or indirect or consequential damages.
2.7 No Warranty for API Services
The API is provided “AS IS”, without any guarantee regarding availability, uptime, accuracy, or suitability for any purpose.
2.8 ShopWriter Trademark & proprietary rights
The ShopWriter name, logo, branding, cloud platform,
AI models, prompts, datasets, templates, backend services
and server-side infrastructure are proprietary and are not
licensed under the GPL.
2.9 No Competitive Use / Reverse Engineering
You may not use the API output to train external AI models
or datasets without written permission.
3. DUAL-LICENSING EXPLANATION
ShopWriter uses a hybrid licensing structure:
✔ Plugin Code → GPL v2 or later
The plugin code is licensed under GPL v2 or later.
✔ API Service → Commercial License
Users may not: – Share or sell API keys – Bypass rate limits or authentication – Resell the API output as a standalone service without permission
This model is fully compliant with WordPress.org’s licensing requirements.
